This Halloween, there’s a cacophony of creepy occasions to look forward to throughout Brighton. These include the Circus of Horrors party at Lola Lo and Twisted Fairy Tales at Proud Cabaret. Still, those sorts of Halloween parties aren’t really for everyone and sometimes you’d rather just have a Halloween night in. After all, it is taking place on a Monday this year which is guaranteed to tone things down somewhat.

Ghoulish Games

When looking for games to play, many of us head straight to the internet to play flash and online casino slot titles. This Halloween, there are dozens of freaky and fun slots you can play to get into the mood –  Immortal Romance or The Dark Knight are probably my favourites.

You can find both of these titles, and much more, at Betway – plus new players receive a 100% welcome bonus and up to €250 on their first deposit. What more could you ask for? That’s your full night sorted for no more than €10.

If you’re planning on having guests over, there are more traditional gaming options such as Bobbing for Apples and Pin the Bones On The Skeleton. To be fair, they are easy to set up and plenty of fun.

Dark Décor

Halloween is arguably the most theatrical holiday of all, so you’ll want to set the scene whether you’re welcoming guests or just the occasional trick or treater (as long as they don’t have eggs, right?).

Get into the mood by lighting your favourite scented candles and turning off all the lights. There are loads of decorations you can create right from your home; all you need is a little bit of creativity if you want to become creepy.

If you’ve carved a pumpkin make sure it sits proudly on your porch or kitchen counter. If you’re no good at carving, or a danger to yourself and others, you can always just draw cobwebs and spiders on your pumpkin with a black marker. You could even use a hollowed out pumpkin as a bowl for candy. Then, chuck a few cobwebs or some orange bunting up and there you have it: a genuinely haunted house.

Eerie Eats

Have you got any food colourings hanging around in your kitchen cupboards that you’d like to get rid of? Well, now’s the time to use them. By pouring a little bit of red, green, black or orange food dye into your punch or lemonade, you can change your usual nightcap into a truly dreadful looking drink.

As for food, gummy worms are an absolute essential if you want to gross out your guests with your party mix. Plus, if you pair them with salted popcorn you’ll find they create the perfect blend of sweet and salty.

Alternatively, if you’d prefer something a little more savoury, nachos are a great go-to snack that you can slather in chunky red salsa and green guacamole. Then, if you want to add a terrifying twist, throw in some big plastic bugs (disclaimer: do not eat said plastic bugs). There is an endless array of recipes on the web that you can follow to create the best Halloween dinner ever, it all depends on your poison.
